Advanced Word Knowledge (DPS 3rd - 8th Grade Teachers)

This course introduces complex orthographic rules of English spelling, demonstrates strategies for spelling and reading multisyllabic words, and emphasizes the importance of morphology knowledge for reading and spelling. After completing the course, you should be able to:

-recognize orthographic patterns in longer words, including syllable types, spellings for schwa sounds, and rules for doubling.

-apply strategies for teaching students to read and spell multisyllabic words.
