Reading Comprehension in the Primary Grades (DPS K-2 Teachers)

"This course explores instructional approaches that support reading comprehension with the goal of increasing elementary students' language comprehension as they navigate complex text. After completing the course, you should:

-understand the importance of interactive read-alouds as foundation for later reading comprehension

-be able to identify knowledge and skills that students need in order to comprehend text

-understand the need to support students' comprehension before, during, and after reading

-know research-based best practices to support reading comprehension, giving consideration to making meaning at the level of the sentence, paragraph, and text"
